After Months Of Pushing For A Decision, The Two Organizations Said They Wanted To Submit More Information To Prove The Merger Would Benefit The Area.

Scott County, Virginia Deputies Prevented A Sex Crime From Happening. The Sheriff’s Department Found Explicit Conversations Between A Man And A Woman Regarding A 10 Year Old Girl. Cell Phones Were Reportedly Found That Contained Explicit Photos Of The Child. 41 Year Old Richard Cruey Of Marion Is Charged With Use Of Communications Systems To Facilitate Offenses Involving Children And Other Charges. 38 Year Old Laura Thompson, Also Of Marion, Is Facing Charges As Well. Authorities Said Additional Charges Are Pending.

WISE VIRGINIA MAN INDICTED

A Wise, Virginia Man Has Been Indicted For Trying To Kill Two University Of Virginia’s College At Wise Students Late Last Year. 55 Year Old Ricky Lynn Hamilton Is Charged With Two Counts Of Attempted First-Degree Murder After Authorities Said He Stabbed Two Male Students During A Fight In November At An Apartment Complex On Hurricane Road. Both Victims Told Investigators They Had Prior Disagreements With Hamilton. Hamilton Is Due Back In Court Next Week.

WISE GRAND JURY INDICTS COEBURN WOMAN

A Wise County Virginia Grand Jury Has Indicted A Coeburn Woman In Connection With A Deadly Crash. 36 Year Old Samantha Dennis Is Charged With Felony Murder, Eluding Police, Abduction By Force, Involuntary Manslaughter, Two Counts Of Assault And Battery And Driving On A Suspended/Revoked License. 32 Year Old Rebecca Starling Of Missouri Was Driving Her Car On Highway 58 In December, When Her Vehicle Was Struck Head-On By A Car Being Driven By Dennis. Starling Died At The Scene And Her Two Children, Ages 2 & 5, Were Injured. Dennis Is Being Held Without Bond And Is Set To Appear In Circuit Court On February 21st For Arraignment.

WASHINGTON COUNTY VIRGINIA APPROVES URBAN PATHWAY

Washington County Virginia Leaders Have Approved A Plan Allowing Abingdon’s Urban Pathway To Cross Two Parcels Of County-Owned Land. This Will Allow The Town To Build And Maintain The Project On A 10-Foot Portion Of The County’s Property In Front Of The Former Washington County Jail. The Pathway Is Nearly Two-Mile Trail That Will Begin At The Head Of The Creeper Trail And End At The Historic Muster Grounds.

The Search Will Continue Friday On South Holston Lake For A Missing Fisherman. 41 Year Old James Ragan Went Missing On Saturday. It’s Believe His Canoe Flipped Over. Sullivan County’s Director Of Emergency Management, Jim Bean, Said Search Crews Will Return To The Water Today Using High-Tech Cameras And Sonar Devices. Crews Have Been Searching The Shore For The Past Few Days. The Family Has Hope That Ragan Is Still Alive And Is Somewhere Along The Lake.

Greeneville, Greene County, Washington County, Tennessee, Johnson City Schools, Carter County, Unicoi County, Rogersville City, Kingsport City, Elizabethton, And Johnson City Schools Are Closed Friday Due To Illnesses. Also Closed On Friday Is Bristol, Virginia Schools. In Addition, Unicoi County Schools Will Be Closed Monday And Tuesday As Well.

GREENE COUNTY MAN INDICTED ON SEX CHARGES

A Greene County Grand Jury Has Indicted A Greeneville Man On Charges Of Rape Of A Child And Aggravated Sexual Battery. 55 Year Old Vincent Corso Ii Was Arrested Last Week And Is Free On Bond. Prosecutors Said Corso Had A Longstanding Relationship With The Child, Which Has Since Been Terminated. The Allegations Came To Light Through An Incident That Occurred In A Local School And Authorities Were Then Notified. Corso Is Set To Appear For Arraignment In Criminal Court On June 7th.

Johnson City Leaders Are Considering A New Management Plan For Freedom Hall Civic Center, The Millennium Centre And The Mini Dome At East Tennessee State University. The City Is Considering Hiring One Company In The Entertainment Industry To Do All The Scheduling, Ticketing, Programming And Overall Management Of The Four Venues. The Idea Is Expected To Be Discussed Further With ETSU Officials Before Any Action Is Taken On The Matter.

KINGSPORT MURDER SUSPECT’S HEARING DELAYED

A Kingsport Murder Suspect’s Preliminary Hearing Has Been Reset Until Later This Year. The Defense For 52 Year Old Jeff Flanary Requested More Time To Prepare The Case. Flanary Reportedly Confessed To Killing Michael Davidson To A Friend Who Then Contacted Authorities. Police Said Flanary Had Asked Davidson To Stay The Night At His Mull Street Home, And Later Flanary Reportedly Choked Davidson While He Slept. Flanary Then Allegedly Tied Him Up And Covered The Body With A Blanket. A Preliminary Hearing For Flanary Is Scheduled For April 4th.

An Area Lawmaker Is Again Pushing To Make It Illegal For Tennessee Drivers To Use Their Cell Phones Unless They Have A Hands-Free Device. Representative John Holsclaw, An Elizabethton Republican, Filed The Legislation That Would Make It A Misdemeanor For Drivers To Use Hand-Held Phones. Holsclaw Also Filed Legislation That Would Increase The Penalty For Drivers Who, While On Their Phones, Cause Crashes That Result In Serious Injury Or Death.
