A Coeburn, Virginia Man Has Been Ordered To Spend Time Behind Bars After Being Convicted Of Multiple Felony Charges Related To A String Of Burglaries In Early 2016. 26 Year Old Michael Jason Sluss Will Spend Nine Years In A Virginia Department Of Corrections Jail Facility. He Plead Guilty To Breaking And Entering, Grand Larceny, Possession Of Stolen Property, Possession Of A Firearm By A Convicted Felon, And Violation Of His Probation. Sluss Broke Into Multiple Residences In The Flatwoods Section Of Coeburn In Wise County.

WISE COUNTY MAN INDICTED IN STABBING

A Wise County Virginia Grand Jury Has Indicted A Person In Connection With The Stabbing Of An Elderly Man Last December. 31 Year Old Jermaine Johnson Is Charged With Attempted First Degree Murder, Aggravated Malicious Wounding, Attempted Burglary, Stabbing In Attempt To Commit A Felony And Trespassing. The Incident Occurred Last October At The Victims Home On Fincastle Road. Johnson Allegedly Broke Into The Man’s Home And Attacked Him With A Handheld Garden Tool. Johnson Is Being Held Without Bond In The Southwest Virginia Regional Jail In Duffield

TWO ARRESTED IN RUSSELL COUNTY

Two People Have Been Arrested In Connection With A Russell County, Virginia Cockfighting Investigation. 45 Year Old Kimberly Crisp And 33 Year Old Jonathan Clark Were Each Indicted On Charges Of Animal Fighting, Conspiracy To Commit Animal Fighting, And Possession Of Marijuana. Clark Is Also Charged With Possession Of A Firearm By A Convicted Felon And Possession Of Ammunition By A Convicted Felon. Both Have Been Released On Bond. Crisp Is Due In Court On March 9th, And Clark Is Due In Court On April 13th.

SULLIVAN COUNTY ELECTION GEARING UP

Kingsport Mayor John Clark Has Filed A Petition To Seek Re-Election. Clark Is Running For A Second Two Year Term As The Model City’s Mayor. Gary Lane And Elbert Norris Have Picked Up A Petition To Run For One Of Three Aldermen Seats This May. Two Board Of Education Seats Are Also Up For Grabs. In Bristol, City Council Member Seats And The Board Of Education For East, South And West District Seats Will Be Open In The May Election As Well. The Offices On The Ballot In Bluff City Are Mayor And Two Aldermen Seats. Election Day Is Set For May 16th.

There’s Good News For The Scott County Virginia School System. Students Improved Their Standards Of Learning Scores In Reading, Science And Math During The 2015-16 School Year. According To The Figures In The 2016 Annual Superintendent’s Report, The Reading, Math And Science Scores All Improved By 3-Percentage Points Over The Previous 2014-15 School Year.

The Future Of The Moonlite Drive-In In Abingdon Virginia Is Unknown. Last Year, Owner William Booker Agreed To Work With Kyle Blevins, A Ups Driver From Bristol Tennessee, To Renovate And Reopen The Theater, But Blevins Has Recently Announced Those Plans Are On Indefinite Hold. The Moonlight Closed In 2013 After Many Studios Made The Switch From Analog Film To Digital, Making Many New Release Movies Incompatible With The Old Projector. The First Of Two Phases Of Renovations Have Been Completed, But There Are A Few Steps That Remain Before The Drive-In Can Reopen.

HAWKINS COUNTY CEMETERY OWNER PLEADS GUILTY

The Owner Of A Hawkins County Cemetery Has Entered A Plea Agreement By Admitting To Her Role In Her Theft, Money Laundering, And Forgery Case In Hawkins County Court. Vickie Ringley Was Arrested In February 2015. She Will Be Required To Relinquish All Rights To The Cemetery, Permanently Forfeit Her Cemetery Operating License, And Be Required To Pay 500 Dollars A Month In Restitution As Part Of The Plea Agreement. Customers Accused Ringley Of Bad Business Practices That Left Families With Unfulfilled Contracts. She Will Be Released From Jail On February 28th.

A Bristol, Virginia Man Is Behind Bars After Leading Authorities On A High-Speed Chase. Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies Attempted To Stop 27 Year Old Christopher Wayne Taylor For Speeding On Wallace Pike In Bristol. After Being Apprehended, A Syringe Was Reportedly Found In His Pocket. He’s Charged With Attempted Malicious Wounding, Driving On A Suspended License, Assault On A Police Officer, And Other Charges. Taylor Is Being Held In The Southwest Virginia Regional Jail In Abingdon.

General Manager George Brewer Said The Change Has Been Discussed For Over Two Years And They Are Excited About The New Franchise. MARION VIRGINIA COUPLE ACCUSED OF SEX CRIMES

A Marion Virginia Man And His Former Girlfriend Are Accused Of Planning To Have Inappropriate Contact With A Ten Year Old Girl. 41 Year Old Richard Cruey And 38 Year Old Laura Cindy Thompson Are Charged With Use Of A Communications Systems To Facilitate Certain Offenses Involving Children. Cruey Is Also Charged With Conspiracy To Commit Forcible Sodomy. Their Arrests Came After A Concerned Citizen Came To A School Resource Officer About A Facebook Message On A Cell phone Regarding The Young Child. Both Cruey And Thompson Are Being Held In The Southwest Virginia Regional Jail In Abingdon Pending Arraignment In Smyth County Juvenile And Domestic Relations Court. The Two Face Additional Charges.

The Documents Were Filed With The State Against Individuals, Including Police Officers, County Mayors, Sheriff’s And Elected Officials.
