Just Over 159-Thousand Dollars Is Needed For Infrastructure Improvements To The Health Department. Ems Is Needing Just Over 550-Thousand Dollars To Cover Overtime Expenses And Paid Leave For Personnel. No Action Has Been Taken On The Requests. The Administrative Committee Will Meet Again April 12th At 6pm.

SULLIVAN COUNTY SALES TAX REVENUE UP

Sullivan County Is Seeing Its Monthly Sales Tax Revenues On The Rise. March Numbers Are 3.9 Percent Higher Than March Of Last Year. However, This Is The First Time In Eight Months That Revenue Collected In Bristol Decreased, But Overall, Sales Taxes Are Up 11.7 Percent For The Eight Month Period. Countywide, March Sales Tax Revenue Totaled Over 4.15 Million.

Plans To Turn The Former Railroad Line, Which Runs From Mendota To Bristol, Into A Recreational Trail Is Becoming A Reality. People Living Along The 12-Mile Trailway Are Being Asked To Make Way For Bikers And Walkers. Residents Received A Letter Stating They Must Remove Any Personal Property From The Trail Within The Next 30 Days. This Project Has Been In The Making For More Than A Decade. The First Five Miles Are Expected To Be Open In The Next Five Months.

Washington County Ranked At 20th, Sullivan County 21st And Johnson County 51st For Health Outcomes Out Of The 95 Counties Statewide.

State Comptroller Justin Wilson Warned If The Commission Can’t Balance Its Budget By July 1st, The State Will Balance It For Them. Today Will Be A Good Day For One Area School System. The Sullivan County School System Will Receive Over 135-Million Dollars In General Obligation Bonds. The Funds Are The First Phase Of School Facilities Plans For The County’s School System, Bristol, Tennessee City School, Kingsport City Schools, And Johnson City Schools. Sullivan County Accounts And Budgets Director Larry Bailey Said A 9-Cent Property Tax Hike Will Be Needed For The 2017-18 Fiscal Year To Cover The Bonds.

The Two Allegedly Tried To Sell The Child To Undercover Officers For Three Thousand Dollars. They Remain In Jail On A 150-Thousand Dollars Bond Each.
