A WASHINGTON COUNTY TENNESSEE GRAND JURY HAS INDICTED A JOHNSON CITY MAN AND HIS SISTER IN CONNECTION WITH THEM ALLEGEDLY RUNNING OVER A POLICE OFFICER. 40 YEAR OLD DEARL ROGERS IS CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED FIRST DEGREE MURDER AND RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT. 45 YEAR OLD CONNIE ROGERS IS CHARGED WITH BEING AN ACCESSORY AFTER THE FACT OF ATTEMPTED FIRST DEGREE MURDER. THE CHARGES STEM FROM AN AUGUST 9TH INCIDENT AT THE DOWNTOWN SQUARE PARKING LOT IN WHICH OFFICER JAVIER MATA WENT OVER THE HOOD OF ROGERS’ CAR AND WHEN HE ACCELLERATED, THE OFFICER WAS THROWN TO THE ROADWAY. MATA SUFFERED A BROKEN COLLARBONE AND A CONCUSSION. ROGERS AND HIS SISTER WERE ARRESTED FIVE DAYS LATER. THEY’RE EXPECTED TO HAVE COURT DATES SET SOON.
