Sullivan County Is In The Process Of Upgrading Its 9-1-1 System. The “Next Generation” Is Being Funded By The State Of Tennessee And Will Allow The County 9-1-1 Center To Receive Text Messages, Pictures And Video From Cell Phones. The New System Will Also Do Away With Using Copper Land Lines And Circuits And Will Instead Use A New Voice-Over-Internet-Protocol That Will Allow The Transfer Of Calls To Anywhere In The State With Just The Push Of A Button. The Upgrade Is Expected To Take Approximately One Year To Be Completed.
