The Carter County Commission Will Meet In A Special Session This Morning To Try And Pass A 2014-15 Fiscal Year Budget That Was Due By July 1st. County Leaders Will Have To First Consider A Veto Of An Earlier Approved Budget That Called For A 12 Cent Increase In The Property Rate. This Would Bring The Rate To $2.33 Cents Per 100 Dollars Of Assessed Value. Mayor Leon Humphrey Came Several Reasons For Vetoing The Budget. The Commission Will Now Have To Decide Whether To Override The Veto Which Takes 13 Votes From The 24-Seat Body. The Meeting Gets Underway At Nine O’clock This Morning.
