A Trial Date Has Been Set For A Wise County Virginia Man Accused Of Killing His Former Girlfriend. 27 Year Old Matthew Wesley Tate Is Charged With First Degree Murder And Using A Firearm In The Commission Of Felony In The Shooting Death Of 21 Year Old Marie Padilla Last September. Tate Plead Not Guilty Yesterday. He Was Reappointed An Attorney And Now Has A Trial Date Set For February 9th In Wise County Circuit Court. Padilla Was Shot Four Times While Sitting In A Truck And Three More Times After She Tried To Escape. Tate Is Being Held Without Bond In The Southwest Virginia Regional Jail In Duffield.
