Bristol Virginia City Council Will Vote On A Regional Jail Proposal At Its Meeting Tonight. Leaders Will Weigh A Proposal To Join The Southwest Virginia Regional Jail System And Hold A Public Hearing To Modify Its City Charter During The Session. Last Month City Leaders Directed Staff To Negotiate A Deal And Return For Consideration. If Approved, It Could Mean Closing The City Jail And Send City Prisoners To Other Regional Facilities. The Move Would Idle More Than 30 Current Deputies. Council Will Meet At Seven O’clock At City Hall On Lee Street.
