Johnson City Leaders Have Passed A 243 Million Dollar 2017 Fiscal Year Spending Plan That Has No Property Tax Hike Included. The Budget Also Does Not Include An 8-Million Dollar Investment Requested For East Tennessee State University’s Planned Fine Arts Center. City Manager Pete Peterson Said Talks Are Continuing Between The Commission And University, And Once A Deal Is Reached, Then A Budget Amendment Would Include The Funding. He Said They Have It, But Just Have Allocated At This Point. The Budget Includes A One Percent Cost Of Living Raise For City Employees.
