According To The 2015 Study, 54-Percent Of Households In Norton Are Struggling Daily To Make Ends Meet And Are Living In Outright Poverty. Of Those, 58-Percent Are Senior Citizens. In Wise County, 49-Percent Of Households Are In The Same Situation, With 51-Percent Of Them Being Senior Citizens. The Numbers Include Several Other Counties. The Point Of The Report Is To Illustrate The Fact The Federal Government’s Official Definition Of Poverty Is Not Adequate To Describe The Number Of Virginians Who Face Tremendous Financial Struggles.
