Two Hawkins County Leaders Have Proposed A Resolution That Would Exempt Elderly People From Paying The New $40 Wheel Tax Increase. The Resolution Was Proposed By Commissioners Fred Castle And Michael Herrell. The Idea Is To Waive The Increase For Drivers Who Are 70 Or Older. They Expressed Concern Over The Elderly Retirees On A Fixed Income Who Can’t Afford The Increase. The Fee Now Puts Renewing A Tag At $96 In The County. They Hope To Have The Resolution Considered And Passed By Christmas.
