TWO PEOPLE FOUND DEAD IN GREENE COUNTY

Two People Have Been Found Dead In Greene County. They Have Been Identified As 40 Year Old James Cowgill and 39 Year Old Jennifer Sorrells. According To Greene County Sheriff Pat Hankins, Dispatch Received A Call From Sorrells At The Whispering Road Residence. She Reportedly Said She Was Locked In Her Room, Was Bleeding, And A Man With A Gun Was Trying To Get Her. Cowgill And Sorrells Apparently Were In A Relationship And Lived Together At The Home. The Bodies Have Been Sent To The ETSU Forensic Center For An Autopsy.

An Arrest Warrant Has Been Issued For 36 Year Old Lorenzo Kamanda Charging Him With Aggravated Rape. The Incident Allegedly Took Place At Lifecare Center In Gray, Where Kamanda Was Employed At The Time. Anyone With Any Information On His Whereabouts Is Asked To Contact The Sheriff’s Office.

TWO VEHICLE CRASH IN DUFFIELD CLAIMS TWO

Virginia State Police Have Released The Names Of Two Lee County Virginia Residents Killed In A Two Vehicle Crash In Duffield. They Are 47 Year Old Marvin Clark Sr. And 39 Year Old Regina Spivey, Both Of Pennington Gap. Police Said The Van, Driven By 47 Year Old Robert Taylor, Was Traveling Southbound When It Ran Off The Side Of The Road And Struck A Guardrail, Causing The Van To Cross Both Lanes, Go Into The Median, Then Into The Northbound Lanes, Striking Clark’s Pickup Truck Head-On. Taylor Received Non-Life Threatening Injuries. The Cause of The Crash Remains Under Investigation.

TENNESSEE TAX COLLECTIONS ABOVE PROJECTIONS

Tennessee’s General Fund Tax Collections Were $8.4 Million Above Projections In February, Bringing The State’s Surplus Revenues To $491 Million Through The First Seven Months Of The Budget Year. Sales Tax Collections Came In At $33 Million Above Estimates During The Month, Which Reflects Economic Activity In January. Fuel Taxes, Which Are Largely Dedicated To Road And Bridge Funding, Dropped 8 Percent Compared With The Previous February.

Several Southwest Virginia Transportation Projects Are On The Preliminary List Recommended To The Commonwealth Transportation Board. The List Contains 136 Projects Totaling 968-Million Dollars. The List Includes Improvements In Bristol To The Lee Highway Intersection At Old Airport Road And The Intersection At Interstate 81’s Exit 7. In Abingdon, The Intersections Of Lee Highway And U.S. Highway 19 And U.S. 11 And 19 At Jonesboro Road. A Public Hearing To Allow For Public Comment Will Be Held At Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center In Abingdon April 13th At 5:30pm.

A Jury Recommended That 56 Year Old Cassandra Silcox Of Clintwood Serve Over A Hundred Years In Prison For Attempting To Have Three Officers Disappear Before She Was Set To Show Up In Court Of Dui Charges. The New Sentencing Date Is Scheduled For May 25th In Dickenson County Circuit Court.

A Bluff City Man Has Been Arrested After Allegedly Pointing A Gun At People Outside A Johnson City Nightclub. 21 Year Old Seth Buckmaster Is Charged With Aggravated Assault, Possession Of A Handgun While Under The Influence, And Public Intoxication. The Charges Stem From A Reported Incident In The Parking Lot Of The Electric Cowboy. Police Found Buckmaster At The Nearby Doubletree Hotel With A Handgun.
