A Portion Of The Former Optimist Park Land In Johnson City Could Have A New Purpose Soon. The City’S Public Building Authority Has Authorized Realty Trust Group To Begin Negotiations To Sell Just Over 2-Acres Of The Land To A Developer Who Wants To Build An Extended-Stay Hotel On The Property. The Plan Shows The Hotel Would Be Five Stories With 104 Units, A Pool, And 112 Parking Spaces. The Land Is Currently Undergoing A Rezoning Request Which Has Passed Two Readings. A Third And Final Reading Is Needed For That Zoning Change To Become Official.
