BANK ROBBER CAPTURED

A BULLS GAP TENNESSEE MAN ACCUSED OF HOLDING UP AN ERWIN BANK IS BEHIND BARS IN UNICOI COUNTY. 40 YEAR OLD JEFFREY TODD MELTON IS CHARGED WITH BANK ROBBERY AND THEFT OVER ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS IN THE HOLDUP FRIDAY OF A BANK OF TENNESSEE BRANCH ON NORTH MAIN AVENUE IN ERWIN. HE ALLEGEDLY HANDED THE TELLER A MANILA ENVELOPE AND DEMANDED MONEY. AUTHORITIES SAID MELTON ALLEGEDLY CLAIMED TO HAVE A CRACK COCAINE HABIT AND BELIEVE IT MAY HAVE BEEN THE MOTIVATION FOR THE ROBBERY. HE’S SET TO BE ARRAIGNED THIS MORNING IN GENERAL SESSIONS COURT. MELTON IS CURRENTLY BEING HELD ON A 100-THOUSAND DOLLARS BOND.
