Passenger Rail Service Planned For Christiansburg Virginia, Which Could Eventually Extend To Bristol, Has Been Postponed. Service To The New River Valley Area Had Been Originally Proposed By 2026, But That Has Been Pushed Back To At Least 2028. Meanwhile, The Virginia Passenger Rail Authority Will Begin Searching For The Location For A Train Station, Which Is Expected To Cost Up To 950-Million Dollars. In The Meantime, A Federally Funded Rail Study Is Underway To Determine All Aspects Of Costs Of Extending Passenger Rail Service To Connect To Bristol.
