DROUGHT-STRICKEN FARMERS IN SULLIVAN COUNTY COULD BE CLOSE TO GETTING SOME ASSISTANCE SOON. SULLIVAN COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ARE SEEKING WAYS TO HELP AREA FARMERS BY HELPING THEM COVER A PORTION OF THEIR HAY COSTS. UNDER A PLAN PROPOSED BY COMMISSIONER DWIGHT KING, FARMERS WILL BE PAID 35 DOLLARS FOR EVERY TON OF HAY THEY BUY FROM OUT-OF-STATE SOURCES BETWEEN DECEMBER 1ST AND APRIL 30TH. THE FULL COMMISSION WILL DISCUSS THE PLAN AT ITS MEETING ON FEBRUARY 19TH.
