AN ABINGDON VIRGINIA BUSINESS THAT BEEN AROUND FOR OVER 50 YEARS WILL BE CLOSING ITS DOORS SOON. OFFICIALS AT DIXIE POTTERY MADE THE ANNOUNCEMENT YESTERDAY. GENERAL MANAGER TOM EVANS SAYS THEY’VE REACHED A POINT WHERE THEY NEED TO SHUT DOWN. HE SAYS TASTES HAVE CHANGED AND WITH INCREASED RETAIL COMPETITION OFF EXIT 7, IT MAKES IT HARD TO STAY IN BUSINESS. DIXIE POTTERY WAS ONE OF ABINGDON’S MAIN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS, BUT THINGS HAVE SINCE CHANGED. THE LAST DAY OF OPERATIONS WILL BE APRIL 30TH.
