A former insurance agent accused of stealing 2.4 million has pled guilty in U.S. District Court in Greeneville. Mickey Kendrick admitted to one count of embezzlement by an agent or employee of an insurance business affecting interstate commerce yesterday. He faces up to ten years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 when he is sentenced May 19. Kendrick was employed by Tennessee Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. from 1983 until he was fired in 2006. He worked at the district claims office in the Greene County community of Chuckey. Kendrick was authorized to write checks to pay claims. Federal officials allege from 2000-2006 he issued nearly 400 checks for fictitious payments on claim files to embezzle funds from the company.
