A GREENEVILLE MAN ACCUSED OF ATTEMPTING TO RUN OVER A ROGERSVILLE POLICE OFFICER DURING A TRAFFIC STOP IS BEHIND BARS. 21 YEAR OLD JOSEPH FORTENBERRY IS CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED ASSAULT, EVADING ARREST, AND DRIVING ON A SUSPENDED LICENSE. ROGERSVILLE POLICE ATTEMPTED TO PULL FORTENBERRY OVER NOVEMBER 3RD ON COLONIAL VILLAGE DRIVE. HE ALLEGEDLY TRIED TO RUN OVER AN OFFICER WITH HIS VEHICLE AT WHICH TIME SHOTS WERE FIRED INTO FORTENBERRY’S CAR LEAVING HIM AND HIS 16 YEAR OLD PASSENGER INJURED. FORTENBERRY IS BEING HELD IN THE HAWKINS COUNTY JAIL ON 25-THOUSAND DOLLARS BOND. HE WILL LIKELY BE ARRAIGNED SOMETIME IN MAY.
