Johnson City police say Winged Deer Park has remained clear of misconduct since an undercover investigation into illegal sex activity last year. Forty men were busted over two weeks in late September and early October. Most were charged with disorderly conduct, indecent exposure or both. Police said at the time of the arrests that some of the activity took place in a remote, brushy section of the park where undergrowth resembles a cave. Some men had dubbed it the “Man Cave.” Police said there hasn’t been a sex incident at the park since. All of those arrested have been banned from city parks. Most received suspended sentences, some with six months of supervision. Two men failed to appear in court and warrants have been issued for their arrests.
