About 140 Employees At Coronado Coal In Buchanan County Virginia Have Been Laid Off. The Facility Employs Approximately 600 Workers And Is One Of The County’s Largest Employers. County Supervisors Will Meet Later This Month To Discuss The Situation And Determine If The Company Still Meets Requirements For Tax Incentives. The Layoffs Come At A Difficult Time For Residents Still Recovering From February Flooding. Many Affected Employees Hope The Layoffs Will Be Temporary As The Company Received Significant State Funding In 2022 To Create Jobs.
