The Mountain Empire Community College Foundation In Big Stone Gap, Virginia, Has Received 200-Thousand Dollars In Grant Funding To Support Workforce Training In Southwest Virginia. The Funds Are Being Provided Through The Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority. The Money Will Be Used For Workforce Development And Training To Meet Ongoing Demand For Skilled Workers In High-Need Manufacturing, Technology And Health Care Sectors. The College Anticipates Training 500 Or More Students In Fiscal Year 2026. Residents Of Buchanan, Dickenson, Lee, Russell, Scott, Tazewell And Wise Counties And The City Of Norton Are Eligible.
