Carter County Sheriff Mike Fraley Is Proposing To Use Over Four Hundred Thousand Dollars In Existing Funds To Help Ease The County’s Budget Strain Following Hurricane Helene. The Plan Includes Using Two Hundred Thousand Dollars From A Litigation Tax Fund To Pay Down Courthouse And Jail Debt, And Two Hundred Thirty-Five Thousand From Federal Forest Service Funds To Cover Equipment And Radio Upgrades. The Proposal Would Also Provide One Hundred Thousand Dollars To Volunteer Fire Departments. The Budget Committee Approved The Plan Unanimously And Will Present It To The Full Commission Next Week.
