Sullivan County School Officials Are Appealing A Court Decision Which Ordered The Reinstatement Of A Fired School Teacher. A 60-Page Appeal Brief Was Filed This Week By Attorneys For The Sullivan County Board Of Education In The Case Of Matthew Hawn. He Was A 16-Year Teacher At Sullivan Central High School Who Was Fired In 2021 For Alleged Insubordination And Conduct Unbecoming A Teacher. Chancellor Katie Priester Ruled In December 2024 That Hawn Should Be Reinstated With Back Pay And Interest. The Appeal Will Now Go Before The Tennessee Court Of Appeals In Knoxville.
