Police have an East Tennessee State University student in custody after a campus-wide alert was issued because of a threat received by the school. School officials say the University Advisement Center discovered a text message Thursday sent to the office overnight. The university says the text message clearly stated the possibility of an act of violence against an unspecified person or persons. Police identified the telephone and sender, and determined that the text message was mistakenly sent to the university and involved a domestic dispute between the suspect and another individual. The student has been suspended and has been offered counseling while authorities continue to investigate.
