AUSTIN TRIAL RESET

A SULLIVAN COUNTY JUDGE HAS RESET THE TRIAL OF A JOHNSON CITY MAN ACCUSED OF HIS PART IN THE KILLING OF ANOTHER MAN AT A CITY MOTEL NEARLY THREE YEARS AGO. JASON AUSTIN’S TRIAL WAS SET TO START YESTERDAY IN WASHINGTON COUNTY TENNESSEE CRIMINAL COURT BUT JUDGE JERRY BECK CONTINUED IT UNTIL AUGUST. THE REASON…THE PROSECUTION IS HAVING TROUBLE TRACKING DOWN A KEY WITNESS THAT IS EXPECTED TO TESTIFY IN THE TRIAL. AUSTIN IS CHARGED IN THE SHOOTING DEATH OF BRIAN RICKER OUTSIDE A DAYS INN. A JURY FOUND DANNY GREENE GUILTY OF SECOND DEGREE MURDER IN RICKER’S DEATH LAST AUGUST. THE MISSING WITNESS TESTIFIED IN THAT TRIAL. AUSTIN’S NEW TRIAL DATE IS AUGUST 19TH.
