An accused Kingsport child rapist facing more than 50 felony charges has been arraigned and will go to trial later this year in Sullivan County Criminal court. A judge set a $1.5 million dollar bond for 66-year-old Donald Edward Lynch. Lynch’s attorney argued that his client is struggling financially and is having health problems. But the judge said Lynch is a flight risk. He fled in 2004 after posting bond on the same charges and spent more then three years on the run. Authorities eventually caught up with him in Mexico, where he was working at a hotel. He faces 11 counts of rape of a child, 38 counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, five counts of aggravated sexual battery and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm. Donald Lynch’s trial is set for June 9th. He’s schedule to be back in court May 2 for a motions hearing.
