Alpha Natural Resources Chief Executive Michael Quillen took a slight pay cut last year, even though the company’s stock more than doubled. Not that Quillen is hurting…The Abingdon based coal company’s latest proxy statement shows he received $3.65 million in compensation for 2007. His compensation totaled $3.67 million in 2006. Alpha had mixed results last year. Its stock gained 138 percent for the year But it’s earnings dropped to 27.7 million compared with 128 million in 2006. Alpha operates more than 60 mines in West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky and Pennsylvania.
