Hawkins County Sheriff Roger Christian says his department has filed aggravated animal cruelty charges against two teenage boys in the fireworks killing of a kitten. Dana Campbell discovered her pet the morning after it disappeared on July eighth in an area north of Church Hill. Investigators say someone stuffed bottle rockets into the kitten’s mouth. Residue showed a fire extinguisher was used on the animal. The suspects are 17 and their cases were cited into Juvenile Court. Christian says the youths gave no reason for the act which the sheriff calls “most inhumane.”
