HAWKINS COUNTY’S NEW SPENDING PLAN FOR 2008-2009 INCLUDES MORE THAN 51-THOUSAND DOLLARS IN CUTS TO EMERGENCY SERVICE FUNDS. ALL 12 FIRE DEPARTMENTS WILL SEE A DECREASE OF 15-HUNDRED DOLLARS EACH, WHILE THE COUNTY’S TWO ABMULANCE SERVICES WERE CUT 3-THOUSAND DOLLARS EACH. ALSO, THE COMMISSION DECIDED TO TRIM 14-THOUSAND DOLLARS FROM HAWKINS COUNTY’S 911, THE COUNTY HAZMAT WAS CUT TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS, AND BOTH RESCUE SQUADS WERE CUT FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS EACH. THE SPENDING PLAN WAS PASSED LAST NIGHT WITHOUT ANY PROPERTY TAX INCREASES.
