A Pilot-To-The-Premise Project In Erwin Has Been Given A Thumbs Up From The State. The Tennessee Comptroller Of The Treasury’s Office And Local Finance Has Reviewed Erwin Utilities’ Business Plan And Believes The Project Is Feasible. Erwin Utilities Would Construct A Fiber-Optic Network That Would Initially Serve About 12-Hundred Businesses And Residential Customers In The Downtown Area. The Network Would Handle Outage Reporting, Meter Reading, Future Load Management And Improving Communications And Operations Of Electric, Wastewater And Water Equipment. It Would Also Offer Customers High Speed Broadband Internet And Telephone Services. The Estimated Cost Of The Project Is 925-Thousand Dollars.
