Erwin Utilities Will Soon Be Getting Into The Broadband Business. The Erwin Board Of Mayor And Aldermen Has Approved A Resolution To Allow Erwin Utilities To Provide Broadband Services. In Addition, Town Leaders Approved An Agreement Between The Town, Erwin Utilities And The Tennessee Valley Authority That Would Fund The Initiation Of The Project. The Intention Is To Bring A Fiber Optic Network To The Town That Would Serve 12-Hundred Residential And Business Customers Near Downtown Erwin. The Service Would Initially Offer Internet Speed Of 100 Megabits Per Second With The Potential For Even Higher Speeds Typically Only Found In Larger Metropolitan Areas. Work To Install The Fiber Optic Cables Will Begin October 22nd.
