Virginia’s unemployment rate keeps getting better. The Virginia Employment Commission reports the seasonally unadjusted rate fell from 6.5 percent in September to 6.3 percent in October, the lowest rate so far in 2009. The number of jobless workers declined by 8,400 to 270,100. The state agency said the rate improved as public and private schools ramped up employment and fewer students sought jobs. Virginia’s rate remains well below the U.S. average of 9.5 percent.
