The Hawkins County Jail’s Overcrowding Problem Is Creating Higher Food Prices. The Jail Opened In 2010 And Was Designed To Hold 266 Inmates And Is Now Holding 280 To 300 Inmates Per Day. The Additional Inmate Population Has Led Sheriff Ronnie Lawson To Ask For Just Over 360-Thousand Dollars For Jail Food Supplies Next Fiscal Year, Which Is An Increase Of Just Over 34-Thousand From This Current Fiscal Year. The Full Commission Will Consider Final Approval Of The Amendments When It Meets In Regular Session June 27th.
