A Chancery Court Judge Has Ruled In Favor Of Washington County Tennessee Schools In Its Lawsuit Seeking 3.4 Million Dollars In Back Payment From Johnson City For Liquor-By-The-Drink Taxes Collected Since The City’s Voters Approved It In 1980. Earlier This Year, Chancellor John Rambo Ruled Against Sullivan County It Its Lawsuit Seeking Back Payments Of The Same Taxes From The Cities Of Kingsport And Bristol. Neither Washington County Or Sullivan County Has Ever Put The Question Of Allowing Liquor-By-The-Drink To Voters Outside The Cities. Sullivan County Is In The Process Of Appealing The Ruling. No Date Has Been Set For The Case To Be Heard. It’s Unclear Whether Or Not Johnson City Leaders Will Appeal The Decision.
