Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam Proposed A Major Initiative Thursday That Would Call On The General Assembly To Invest Millions To Expand Broadband Access Across The State. The Tennessee Broadband Accessibility Act Would Call On A $45 Million Project To Be Allocated To Service Providers Through Tax Credits And Grants In Order To Get Internet Service To The Most Rural Parts Of The State Over A Three Year Period. The Governor Noted That Tennessee Currently Ranks 29th In The U.S. For Broadband Access And 34 Percent Of Rural Residents Do Not Have The Basic Components Or Infrastructure Needed For Those Services.
