Unicoi County Leaders Are Discussing The Possibility Of Operating Its Own Ambulance Service. There Are Currently Only Two Ambulances In The County To Serve Nearly 18-Thousand Residents And Local Officials Say This Just Isn’t Enough. County And Erwin Leaders Have Started An Ambulance Task Force To Look Into The Possibility Of Ending A Contract With Medic-One. The County Is Currently Paying The Ambulance Service 180-Thousand Dollars A Year. The Contract With Medic-One Expires In April 2019, But A Clause In The Contract Allows The County To Get Out Anytime With A 90 Day Notice.
