The Tennessee Department Of Environment And Conservation Has Lifted An 8-Year-Old Order Requiring Upgrades To Jonesborough’s Aging Sewer System. The Lift Comes In Response To The Town’s Plan To Build A Plant That Can Hold Up To 3-Million Gallons Of Water And Last The Town Up To 20 Or 30 Years. Even With The Sewage Plant Solution, The Town Must Now Focus On Continuing To Fix The Pipes Throughout The System That Leak And Reduce Inflow And Infiltration. Pending Pipe Work In Downtown Will Cost The Town 40-Thousand Dollars.
