Tennessee Representative Micah Van Huss Has Introduced A Bill That Would Hold Methadone Clinics Liable For Damages Or Injuries Caused By Impaired Patients Who Commit Driving-Related Offenses. The Proposed Bill Progressed From The Civil Justice Committee And Will Be Heard In The Health Committee Next. The Bill Does Include A Defense To Liability If The Clinic Took Reasonable Efforts To Prevent The Patient From Driving. It Would Also Only Apply To Impairment Created By The Clinic’s Treatment.
