Northeast Tennessee Has Received A Grant To Help With The Opioid Epidemic Nationwide. Over 100-Thousand Dollars Of Federal Funding Will Come To Our Area As The Result Of A 21st Century Cures Act, That Provides A Billion In Funding To Prevent The Abuse Of Opioids, Heroin And Other Addictive Drugs Across The Country. The Grants Are Paying For Doses Of The Lifesaving Opioid Overdose Antidote Narcan. The Funds Will Also Be Used To Hire Peer Recovery Specialists. The Money Is Allocated To Sullivan, Carter, Greene, Hancock, Hawkins, Johnson, Unicoi And Washington Counties.
