An eastern Tennessee jail went on lockdown after a failed escape attempt by an inmate and attack on two correctional officers over the weekend. The incident occurred at the Hamblen County Jail when an inmate jumped a male and female officer. Sheriff Esco Jarnigan says the inmate faked being sick, then attacked the officers. He never made it out of the secured area though. Jarnigan said the two officers were treated for cuts and bruises, but appeared to be all right. Additional charges could be filed against the inmate.
