Virgnia’s Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday Kicks Off Beginning Later This Week. Residents Can Save Money On Those Emergency Items And On Some Everyday Items As Well. Beginning On Tuesday And Running Through May 31st, Items Priced At Least 60 Dollars Or Less, And Such Things As Generators Priced At One Thousand Dollars Or Less, Will Be Exempt From The Five Percent State And Local Sales Tax. Among The List Of Items Are Bottled Water, Flashlights, Batteris, And First Aid Kits. During This Seven Day Period, Retailers May Also Choose To Pay The Sales Tax Themselves On Any Non-Exempt Items And Pass The Five Percent Savings On To Their Customers.
