Eastman Chemical Co. in Kingsport, has formally pledged to reduce energy intensity by 25 percent over a 10-year period in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy. Eastman president and CEO Jim Rogers, said the company already has reduced greenhouse gases by that number and it’s energy amount by 35 percent in the past decade. The chemical giant and other companies participated in a pledge-signing event at a DOE-sponsored energy forum. Rogers said Eastman is an energy-intensive industry and will continue to do all it can to be more energy efficient. The Kingsport based company, has some 10,000 employees around the world.
