MOUNT CARMEL IS ANOTHER STEP CLOSER TO INSTALLING PERMANENT CAMERAS THAT WILL ASSIST IN TICKETING SPEEDING MOTORISTS. MAYOR GARY LAWSON SIGNED A CONTRACT ON TUESDAY WITH REDFLEX TRAFFIC SYSTEMS INC. ONCE APPROVED BY THE TENNESSEE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, THE COMPANY WILL INSTALL PERMANENT TRAFFIC CAMERAS ON BOTH ENDS OF THE TOWN ON HIGHWAY 11-W THAT WILL MONITOR YOUR SPEED AND IF YOU DISOBEY THE LAW, PHOTOGRAPH YOUR LICENSE PLATES. IT MAY STILL BE SEVERAL MONTHS BEFORE TICKETS TURN UP IN YOUR MAILBOXES. REDFLEX IS THE SAME COMPANY THAT KINGSPORT CONTRACTS WITH FOR RED LIGHT INTERSECTION PHOTO ENFORCEMENT.
