DUNGANNON WATER WOES

Jan 29, 2008

WATER PROBLEMS CONTINUE IN ONE SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA TOWN. ALTHOUGH THE TOWN OF DUNGANNON STILL HAS WATER, THE 250-THOUSAND GALLON WATER TANK IS STILL NOT FULL. OFFICIALS DON’T FEEL THE PROBLEM WILL REACH A CRISIS AS LONG AS RESIDENTS DO THEIR PART TO CONSERVE. TOWN FOLKS SHOULD CONTINUE TO BOIL THEIR WATER FOR COOKING UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE AND HOPEFULLY THE PROBLEM WILL BE CORRECTED BY THE SPRING. THE WATER SHORTAGE PROBLEM IS BLAMED ON POOR INSTALLATION. WATERLINES WERE INSTALLED ON LIMESTONE ROCK WHEN THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN PLACED IN GRAVEL INSTEAD. THE TOWN BELIEVES IT WILL GET ENOUGH MONEY TO REPLACE SOME OF THE OLD LINES.
