A Man Who Allegedly Jumped Into The Watauga River In Elizabethton To Evade Police Is In Custody. The Elizabethton Police Department Responded To A Motor Vehicle Theft On Monday Morning In The Spruce Lane Area. The Vehicle Was Spotted Traveling North On Stateline Road. The Suspect Leonard Price Reportedly Left The Vehicle At The Corner Of Maple Street And Johnson Ave And Then Ran On Foot Toward Harold McCormick Elementary. Price Then Jumped Into The River And Stayed Until He Reached The Elks Lodge. Officers Then Entered The River And Arrested Price. He Is Charged With Evading Arrest And Resisting/Stop Arrest.
