Trooper-Pilots From The Virginia State Police Have Been Honored For Their Heroic Rescue At Unicoi County Hospital During Hurricane Helene. The Children’s Emergency Care Alliance Of Tennessee Presented The “Mutual Aid State Award” To The Med-Flight 2 Crew For Flying Into Tennessee To Rescue Forty People From The Hospital Rooftop On September Twenty-Seventh. Due To Flooding From The Nolichucky River, The Crew Performed Skid Rescues, Hovering Above The Roof To Safely Remove Patients. The Operation Took Four Hours. Those Honored Include Retired First Sergeant Jeffrey Bush, Master Trooper-Pilot Bryan Canada, Trooper-Pilot Jacob Culp, And Ballad Health Flight Crew April Boyd And Wayne Carroll. The Crew Acted Swiftly As Tennessee Guard Resources Were Temporarily Grounded Due To Weather.
