A North Carolina Man Is Now Facing Charges Following An Officer Involved Shooting Last Month In Johnson County. 34 Year Old Joey Allen Ponce Is Charged With Attempted Murder And Other Charges In The April 22nd Incident. Deputies Spotted A Vehicle That Was The Subject Of A BOLO From Watauga County, North Carolina. Ponce Was Wanted In Connection With An Armed Robbery Earlier That Day. When Deputies Tried To Stop The Vehicle, Ponce Refused And A Pursuit Began. The TBI Says Ponce Got Out In The 5000 Block Of Highway 421 And Fired Shots At Deputies, Striking And Injuring One. Deputies Returned Fire And Struck Ponce. He Was Recently Served With Warrants Upon Release From The Hospital And Booked On $750,000 Bond. He Will Appear In Court Soon.
