Three inmates who overpowered a guard and escaped the Cocke County Jail are back behind bars today. TBI spokeswoman Kristin Helm said after breaking out Sunday evening, all three were back in custody yesterday afternoon. Authorities picked them up separately – still in Newport, not far from the jail. Convicted murderer Joshua Parker of Newport was the last to be caught. He was apprehended on foot near City Park. Nearby, police arrested James Reed of Newport. He also was on foot. TBI agents and U.S. marshals caught Mark Capanyola of Jefferson City in a vehicle in the same area. Parker was convicted Friday of second-degree homicide in the attempted rape and murder of 65-year-old Evelyn Lackey in April 2003. He also is a registered sex offender.
