Hawkins County Officials Have Eliminated A Proposed Property Tax Hike From The Upcoming Spending Plan. The Budget Committee Voted To Remove A 3.5 Cent Property Tax Increase From The Budget, Before Sending It To The Full Commission. District Five Commissioner Jason Roach Suggested Taking 450-Thousand Dollars Out Of The Highway Operating Fund Request To Help Balance The Budget. The County Commission Is Set To Consider The Proposal When It Meets Next, On July 28th At 6pm.
